The Lowcountry Pumpkin Patch Road Trip: Charleston to Conway
Fall in the Lowcountry may not always come with sweater weather, but we still know how to celebrate it.
From big pumpkin patches and corn mazes near Charleston to a full-blown City of Halloween farther up the coast, there are plenty of ways to enjoy the season—even if the afternoon temperature still feels suspiciously like July.
Here are the major pumpkin-picking and fall-festival destinations to put on your 2026 calendar.
Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch — Mount Pleasant
If you want the biggest traditional fall-festival experience close to Charleston, Boone Hall is the obvious place to begin.
The Boone Hall Pumpkin Patch celebrates its 30th year in 2026. Admission includes the corn maze, family-friendly Halloween tractor tour, petting zoo, pig races, inflatables, magic shows, live performances, miniature golf and several other activities.
Pumpkins are sold separately by the pound, so leave a little room in the car for whichever one the family decides it cannot live without.
2026 schedule: Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays from September 25 through November 1, from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
Admission: $15 for ages 3 and older. Children 2 and younger are admitted free with an adult.

West Farm Corn Maze — Moncks Corner
West Farm is a great choice if your family wants more farm and a little less festival.
The centerpiece is its annual corn maze, but the farm also offers hayrides, farm animals, corn pits, a hay-bale maze, tire piles, a bubble zone and rotating food trucks. Special activities are planned throughout the season, including grandparents’ days and a glow night.
This one is especially convenient for families in Berkeley County, Summerville and the northern side of the Charleston area.
2026 season: October 1 through November 1
Hours: Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. Gate ticket sales end at 7 p.m.

Thompson Farm & Nursery — Conway
If you are ready to turn pumpkin picking into a day trip, head toward Conway.
Thompson Farm sits on 156 acres along the Waccamaw River and offers a 6.5-acre corn maze, pumpkin patch, hay-wagon rides, farm animals and a large play area with activities for children. The farm also holds themed weekends and special events throughout its fall season.
Its farm store carries thousands of pumpkins and gourds, along with hay bales, corn stalks, cider, jams, sauces, kettle corn and other fall necessities.
2026 season: September 19 through November 1
Regular hours: Saturdays and Sundays, 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.
October 31 and November 1: 10 a.m. until 5 p.m.

Don’t Stop at the Farm—Visit the City of Halloween
If you make the drive to Thompson Farm, save time for downtown Conway.
For the entire month of October, Conway transforms itself into the City of Halloween. Downtown fills with jack-o’-lanterns, oversized skeletons, witches’ hats, lights and creatively transformed businesses. Even the familiar Bojangles sign has been known to become “Boojangles.”
The 2026 celebration runs October 1–31 and includes special events, markets, entertainment and plenty of decorations along the historic streets and Riverwalk.
My suggestion would be to visit Thompson Farm earlier in the day, then head downtown for dinner. Walk around once before sunset and again after dark—the city feels completely different once all the lights come on.

What About the Smaller Neighborhood Pumpkin Patches?
Churches, schools, roadside markets and community groups throughout the Lowcountry also set up smaller pumpkin patches during October.
These can be perfect if you primarily want to choose a pumpkin, take a few pictures and support a local organization without committing to a full-day festival. Because their dates and inventory can change quickly, check the organization’s current social-media page before making a special trip.
A Few Tips Before You Go
- Buy advance tickets when they are available, especially for October weekends.
- Check the venue’s page the morning of your visit for weather closures.
- Wear shoes that can handle dirt, grass and possibly mud.
- Bring sunscreen and water. Lowcountry “fall” can still be hot.
- Confirm whether pumpkins are included with admission or sold separately.
- Check pet policies before bringing a dog.
- Arrive early if you want photographs before the largest crowds appear.
Which Fall Trip Would You Choose?
For the complete festival experience, Boone Hall is hard to beat. West Farm offers classic farm fun close to Summerville and Berkeley County. Thompson Farm and downtown Conway make the best full-day—or even overnight—fall road trip.
Or you could do what any reasonable pumpkin-loving person would do and visit all three.
